The Safeguard mobile apps are free companion apps for iPhone, iPad and Android that need a Safeguard account. Get iOS from the App Store, and Android from Google Play or a direct APK. This FAQ collects what the download page and App Store listing state, and flags what they do not.
Where do I get them?
The download page links the App Store listing for iOS and the Google Play listing for Android. It also offers a direct Android APK, Safeguard-1.0.2.apk, about 69 MB.
What versions are listed?
On 19 October 2026 the download page showed iOS App Store version 2.0 and the Android APK at 1.0.2. The App Store listing itself showed a more recent version in its what's new section, so check the store for the current number.
Does it cost anything?
The App Store listing shows the iOS app as free. This post does not cover plan pricing for the platform. Check the pricing page.
Do I need an account?
Yes. The App Store listing says a Safeguard account is required.
Which devices?
The page says iPhone and iPad for iOS, and phones and tablets for Android. The App Store listing gives iOS 16.4 or later for iPhone and iPadOS 16.4 or later for iPad. No Android minimum version is stated, so test on your device.
What can I do in the app?
Per the App Store listing: check organization posture, review findings with the reachability evidence behind each, track remediation, and receive alerts. The download page describes the apps as the same answers on a phone.
Is there a Safari extension?
Yes, on iPhone and iPad it is included in the iOS app. Turn it on in Settings, Apps, Safari, Extensions on iOS 18 and later, or Settings, Safari, Extensions before that.
How does the Android APK update?
Not through Google Play. The page says APK updates come from the download page.
What data does the iOS app collect?
The developer's privacy label on the listing says no data collected. The listing notes that Apple has not verified this. Read the vendor's privacy policy for detail.
Who is this for?
Anyone with a Safeguard account who wants status, findings and alerts away from a desk, such as engineering leads, security leads and on call developers.
What is not stated?
The pages we read do not publish a mobile feature matrix, an Android minimum version or detailed permission lists. If you need those for a procurement review, ask Safeguard support in writing.
Can I use it on a managed work phone?
That depends on your employer's device policy. Store installs are usually easier to approve than sideloaded files, so ask your IT team before installing, and mention the APK hash if you go the sideload route.
