What Zero does
It answers the questions that were never a reasoning problem: an entity, some filters, a count, a breakdown, a join.
Exact first
A question that matches a known shape is translated exactly and answered without qualification. Most real searches land here.
Then semantic
When the exact pass declines, Zero reads for meaning instead of shape — the entity being asked about, the qualifiers anywhere in the sentence, misspellings, and words that mean an entity without naming it. It resolves joins the query layer can actually run, and says so when a condition is not expressible.
Labelled, always
An inferred answer carries a note saying it was inferred, what Zero decided the question was, and how confident it is. An approximation that looks identical to an exact answer is the one thing this family must never produce.
Refuses rather than guesses
Prose, opinions and free-form requests are declined by name, with the shapes that do work. It never quietly falls back to a language model, because that would break the only promise the family makes.
What it costs you
Nothing measurable, and that is the point.
