As read from Anthropic's pricing page on 19 October 2026, a Team Standard seat is $20 a month billed annually and a Premium seat is $100, with Premium giving 5 times the usage of Standard. Price scales with usage, so Premium is for people who hit limits, not a discount.
The listed numbers
From the pricing page, dated 19 October 2026, for Team plans of 2 to 150 users:
- Standard seat: $20 per seat per month billed annually, or $25 billed monthly. More usage than Pro.
- Premium seat: $100 per seat per month billed annually, or $125 billed monthly. 5 times the usage of a Standard seat.
- Included: Claude Code, central billing, SSO and admin controls for connectors.
- The page also mentions pooled API credits of up to a stated monthly amount. Confirm what counts and how it works with Anthropic before you plan around it.
Five times the usage at five times the annual price is a straight line. You are not saving money per unit of usage by choosing Premium. You are buying headroom for the people who need it.
A mixed team, worked out
For a team of 10 with 8 Standard and 2 Premium seats on annual billing: 8 times $20 plus 2 times $100 is $360 a month. On monthly billing it is 8 times $25 plus 2 times $125, or $450. Moving everyone to Premium on annual billing would be $1,000 a month. These are list prices and exclude tax and any usage credits.
How to choose who gets Premium
Do not guess. Start everyone on Standard and look at the data:
- Which people hit the session or weekly limit more than once a week?
- Is the work interactive coding, where waiting for a reset is costly, or occasional chat?
- Are they running long sessions, subagents or scheduled tasks? Anthropic's cost documentation lists these as heavy consumers. See how plan usage limits work.
Anthropic's page for Claude Code says that on Team and Enterprise plans each member's usage draws from a per seat allowance on a rolling five hour window and a weekly window, shared with Claude chat and Cowork, and sized by seat tier.
Usage credits and caps
Instead of upgrading a seat, an admin can turn on usage credits so members continue past the allowance, with spend limits at the organization, group or member level. The same documentation says limits are managed in the admin console, and spend reports in organization analytics are updated daily and show estimated spend per user and per model once credits are on. See usage credits for Pro, Max and Team.
Seat or API
Seats are for people. Automation and CI belong on the API with a workspace cap. See subscription or API and budgeting for a team.
Quick check
Can I mix seat tiers on one team?
The pricing page lists both seat types under one Team plan, and the cost documentation refers to Standard or Premium seat tiers per member. Confirm in the admin console.
Is annual billing worth it?
It lowers the monthly price by $5 on Standard and $25 on Premium, as listed, in exchange for a commitment. Compare that with how sure you are the team will keep using it.
