As read from Anthropic's pricing page on 19 October 2026: Free costs $0, Pro $17 a month billed annually or $20 monthly, Max starts at $100 a month, and Team seats run $20 or $100 a month billed annually. Higher plans mostly buy more usage, not a different product.
The snapshot
| Plan | Price listed | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 a month | Chat, web search, up to 5 projects, usage resets on a rolling five hour window |
| Pro | $17 a month billed annually ($200 up front), or $20 monthly | More usage, scheduled tasks, Claude Code, unlimited projects |
| Max | From $100 a month, billed monthly | A choice of 5x or 20x Pro usage, higher output limits, priority access at busy times |
| Team Standard seat | $20 a seat billed annually, or $25 monthly | More usage than Pro, central billing, SSO, admin controls |
| Team Premium seat | $100 a seat billed annually, or $125 monthly | 5x the usage of a Standard seat |
Team is listed for 2 to 150 users. Enterprise is sold separately, so ask Anthropic for its terms.
This is a snapshot. Prices and features move, so treat the pricing page as the source and this table as a map.
How to read "more usage"
Plans do not publish fixed message counts. The pricing page FAQ says Pro gives at least 5x more usage per five hour session than Free, and describes Max as 5x or 20x Pro. For Team, it says there is no fixed message count and that limits depend on conversation length, model and features used. See how plan usage limits work.
Questions that pick the plan
- Do you hit the Pro limit more than a few times a week? That is the signal for Max.
- Do several people need shared billing, SSO or admin controls? That is Team.
- Do you need a workload that runs unattended or in CI? That points to the API instead, which is metered per token. See subscription or API.
Annual vs monthly
Pro and Team show a lower per month price on annual billing, paid up front. If you are not sure you will keep the plan, the monthly price is the cost of that flexibility. Max is listed as monthly only on the page.
What to do before upgrading
Check your own usage screen first. Anthropic's Claude Code documentation describes a usage view that shows plan usage and what consumed it, such as long conversations or cache misses. Trimming a habit can be cheaper than moving up a tier.
Quick check
Is a higher plan a better model?
The page describes Max as more usage plus higher output limits and early access to features. Model availability changes, so read the current page.
Does the Team plan include API usage?
The page mentions pooled API credits for Team, with a monthly figure. Confirm current terms and how credits work before you rely on them.
