Several runtime dates fall between now and the end of 2026. Python 3.10 ended on 1 October, Node.js 24 enters Maintenance on 20 October, Node.js 26 is scheduled for LTS on 28 October, and .NET 8 and 9 both end support on 10 November. Java 26 builds have also ended.

Dates in the future are plans, so re-check them before acting.
Who should act this quarter
- Anyone on Python 3.10. No more security fixes from the core team. See Python 3.10 end of life.
- Anyone on .NET 8 or 9. You have until 10 November. See .NET 9 support ends.
- Anyone on Java 26. Its window ended in September. Move to an LTS release. See non-LTS Java.
- Anyone starting new Node.js work. Decide between 24 and 26. See which Node.js version.
What can wait
Node.js 24 entering Maintenance is not urgent. It is supported until 2028-04-30. Python 3.11 is supported until October 2027. Go has no fixed date on the calendar, but Go 1.25 left support when Go 1.27 shipped, per the Go release policy.
Build your own calendar
- List each runtime and version you run.
- Copy its end date from the vendor page, not a blog post, including this one.
- Add two reminders: 18 months out and 6 months out.
- Assign an owner for each line.
- Review monthly in your engineering meeting.
If you want a quick scripted check, a small script that reads a JSON feed from an end of life tracker and compares it to your list can run in CI. Treat the tracker as a convenience and confirm against the vendor.
Try it yourself
The continuous monitoring demo shows changes being tracked over time. A dated runtime inventory benefits from the same kind of watch.

Safeguard's asset discovery and continuous monitoring can help keep an inventory current. The free scan is at gold.safeguard.sh/scan.
Quick check
Is Node.js 26 LTS yet?
Not as of 19 October 2026. The schedule lists 28 October 2026.
Why list a tracker as a source?
Trackers are convenient but secondary. Confirm important dates with the vendor or project.
