A Gemini share link is public: Google's help page says anyone with the link can read the chat, even if you did not send it to them. The page includes uploaded images and generated files. Delete a link under Settings and help, then Your public links.
What gets shared
Per Google's help page, sharing makes a public link. The entire conversation is shared. Images you uploaded are available and downloadable from the shared chat. AI-generated items such as Canvas documents, images and videos are included. For chats created with a Gem, the Gem name is shown, and you can choose to include its instructions.
Your name and account are not added to the URL or the shared page. That is not the same as anonymity, because the content itself can identify you.
The page is a snapshot. Editing or continuing the chat afterward does not change it.
Who can do what with it
Recipients can reshare the link. They can also continue the chat on their own, except for chats made with Gems or by users under 18. Because a copy made by continuing the chat belongs to the other person, you cannot take it back later.
How to delete links
To delete a single link, open Settings and help, then Your public links, and choose Delete public link. To remove them all, choose Delete all links. After deletion, visitors see a message that the chat no longer exists.
Google lists what deletion does not do. It does not remove posts on third-party sites, the chat from your Gemini Apps Activity, or copies others made by continuing the chat.
Why a link can disappear on its own
Links stay active only while the chat is saved in your Gemini Apps Activity. If part of the chat is deleted, whether manually, by auto-delete or from your pinned and recent chats, the link is deleted too. This means a link is a bad way to keep a permanent record.
Admins and reports
A Workspace administrator can turn conversation sharing off. If you do not see a Share option, that may be why. You can also report a shared chat from the page.
Habits worth keeping
- Never share a chat that contains anything you would not post publicly.
- Prefer copying the specific answer into a document.
- Review Your public links every few months and clear out old ones.
Quick check

Can someone with the link keep the conversation going?
Yes, in most cases. Google says recipients can continue the chat on their own, except for chats made with Gems or by users under 18.
