CVE-2026-57830 is a critical flaw (CVSS 9.1) in Helix Ultimate, a Joomla template extension from JoomShaper. Versions before 2.2.7 allow unauthenticated arbitrary file deletion. Update the extension to 2.2.7 or later, and check that no site files have gone missing.

What's affected

  • Helix Ultimate (Joomla extension) versions before 2.2.7.
  • Fixed version: 2.2.7, per the record.

How to check if you're exposed

In the Joomla administrator, open Extensions, then Manage, and find Helix Ultimate. If the version is lower than 2.2.7, the site is in range. Check every Joomla site you run, including staging copies, since each has its own copy of the extension.

Safeguard does not replace the vendor advisory for packaged software like this, but the Gold directory is a quick place to look up the CVE record and see related advisories. If your own code bundles components from this product family, the free scan at gold.safeguard.sh/scan can list them.

What to do now

  1. Update Helix Ultimate to 2.2.7 or later on every Joomla site.
  2. Take a fresh backup before and after the update.
  3. Compare the site files against a known good backup or your deployment source, and restore anything missing.
  4. Review web server logs for unexpected requests to the extension paths.

After the update, confirm the new version in the product itself, then repeat the check on every environment, including staging and disaster recovery copies. Those copies are the ones most often left behind, and an old copy on a reachable network is still an open door.

Why it matters

The record classes this as CWE-862 (Missing Authorization). An action that removes files was reachable without any login check. Deleting files can take a site offline, and removing a configuration file can sometimes reopen installation or setup screens, so treat it as more than a nuisance.

The record does not mark this as exploited in the wild and it is not in the CISA KEV list. The only reference in the record is the vendor product page, so confirm details there.

Joomla sites are often maintained by agencies or by one person, and templates are installed once and forgotten. That is why a flaw in a popular template framework deserves a quick audit of every site you are responsible for, not only the main one.

Quick check

Do I need to be logged in to be attacked?

No. The record scores it as network reachable with no privileges and no user interaction.
