DUBLIN, Calif. — July 11, 2026 — Safeguard today announced that its browser extension is live on the Chrome Web Store, turning last week's rollout announcement into a one-click install for every Chrome user.
The extension opens Safeguard's AI search in Chrome's side panel, so Griffin — Safeguard's agentic security assistant — sits alongside whatever page a practitioner is working in: a vendor's security page, a GitHub advisory, a package registry, an internal dashboard. Ask about a CVE, a package, a vendor, or your own posture without leaving the tab.
Deliberately thin, verifiably private. The extension embeds the production Safeguard search experience and nothing else. It requests exactly one browser permission — Chrome's side panel API — with no host permissions, no content scripts, and no ability to read or intercept the pages you visit. There is no separate login flow and no credential storage in the extension: users sign in inside the embedded page with their normal Safeguard web session. The entire package is under 8 KiB.

The side panel gives users the same experience as the Safeguard web app's search: live agentic activity as Griffin thinks, calls tools, and reads sources, with model tiers selectable per query. It requires Chrome 114 or later and is published by Safeguard.sh Inc.
The Safeguard extension is available today at no additional cost to Safeguard customers. Edge and Firefox builds exist in the same codebase and will follow to Microsoft Edge Add-ons and addons.mozilla.org, as will Gold Open Source, a companion launcher for Safeguard Gold, the public open-source security-intelligence site.
