The worst part of changing compliance platforms isn't learning a new one. It's the year of history you leave behind. Controls you mapped. Evidence you collected. Risks you wrote up and reviewed.
Most teams either pay for both tools through an audit cycle or quietly re-enter everything by hand. Neither is a good use of a security team.
Safeguard can now import compliance records from another GRC tool.
How the import works
It's built to be checked before anything lands:
- Upload the export from your current tool on the Compliance page.
- Preview what Safeguard read from it, before anything is written.
- Map fields where your old tool used different names or structures.
- Commit when it looks right. Or discard it and start again, nothing written.
The same flow is available over MCP, so you can run an import from Claude or your own agent and review the preview in the conversation.
What you keep
The point is continuity. Your auditor shouldn't see a gap because you changed vendors in month nine. Imported records sit next to the evidence Safeguard collects from then on.
Where it goes from there
Once your records are in, the rest of the platform takes over: automated evidence from connected systems, policies, risk register, and technical evidence from your actual code and dependencies. That last part is the piece a standalone GRC tool can't give you.
If you're mid-audit and thinking about switching, talk to us first about timing.
Try it yourself
Click through it at your own pace, or open it full screen.
Before you export anything from your current tool, list the three records your auditor looked at most last time. After the import, check those three first in the preview.
Quick check
What happens if the preview looks wrong?
Discard it. Nothing is written until you commit.
Can you run an import from an AI assistant?
Yes. The same upload, preview, map and commit flow is available over MCP.
