CVE-2026-4850 is a SQL injection flaw (CVSS 7.3, high) in code-projects Simple Laundry System 1.0. The file checkregisitem.php mishandles the Long-arm-shirtVol argument, and the record says it can be attacked remotely. The record lists no fixed version, so restrict access and review the code if you run it.

What's affected

code-projects Simple Laundry System 1.0, in the file checkregisitem.php, component Parameter Handler. The record names no other versions and lists no fixed version or vendor patch.

The record also states that an exploit has been released to the public. It does not say the flaw is being exploited in the wild, and it is not on the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities list.

How to check if you're exposed

This is a small PHP project that people download and host themselves, so inventory is the main check. Search your web roots and repositories for the application.

find /var/www -name 'checkregisitem.php' 2>/dev/null
grep -rl 'Simple Laundry' /var/www 2>/dev/null

If the file exists, the install is in scope. Check whether it is reachable from the internet.

What to do now

  1. Find every copy of Simple Laundry System 1.0, including test and student projects.
  2. Take internet facing copies offline or place them behind a login or VPN.
  3. Do not reuse database credentials from this app anywhere else, and give the app a database account with minimal rights.
  4. Fix the query code by using prepared statements for every parameter, or replace the application.
  5. Check with the vendor page referenced in the record for any patch.

Why it matters

The classes are CWE-74, improper neutralization of special elements in output, and CWE-89, SQL injection. The application builds a database query using a value from the request, so crafted input can change what the query does. The usual impact is reading or changing data in the database, with the CVSS vector rating low impact on each of confidentiality, integrity and availability.

The cure for this class is well known: parameterized queries, with input treated as data and never as part of the SQL text. Hobby and demo projects often skip that step, and when they are deployed for real use they carry the flaw with them.

There is no package manifest to scan for this one, so inventory comes first. List every host, instance or device running an affected build. The Gold directory page for CVE-2026-4850 is a handy place to follow later updates.

Quick check

There is no patch. What is the fix?

Remove public access, then replace the vulnerable query with a parameterized one or retire the application.
