CVE-2026-48356 is a critical unrestricted file upload flaw (CVSS 9.3) in Adobe Commerce and Magento that could lead to arbitrary code execution as the current user. It needs user interaction: a victim must visit a malicious page or crafted URL. Adobe's bulletin APSB26-73 lists the fixed versions.
What's affected
The record lists Adobe Commerce, Commerce B2B, I/O Events and Magento. It does not list version numbers, and the Adobe bulletin page did not load for our review, so read APSB26-73 for the affected versions and the patch for each release line.
The description says exploitation needs a victim to visit a malicious page or interact with a compromised one. The vector has no privileges required and a changed scope.
How to check if you're exposed
Read your installed version, then compare it with the fixed versions in Adobe bulletin APSB26-73.
bin/magento --version
composer show magento/product-community-edition
composer show magento/product-enterprise-edition
Use the package that matches your edition. Adobe Commerce B2B and I/O Events modules ship as separate packages, so check them with composer show as well.
What to do now
- Read APSB26-73 and note the fixed version or patch for your release line.
- Apply the patch to staging first, then production, and confirm the version afterward.
- Review the upload directories and web server rules, and make sure uploaded files cannot be executed as code.
- Remind administrators to avoid following unknown links while logged in to the admin panel.
Why it matters
The class is CWE-434, unrestricted upload of a file with a dangerous type. A web application that accepts files has to decide which types are allowed and where they land. If it gets that wrong, an uploaded file can end up somewhere the server will run it, and the advisory ties this flaw to code execution.
The user interaction requirement means the attack goes through a person, usually a signed in store administrator. That makes patching and admin hygiene a joint fix. The record does not mark this CVE as exploited in the wild, and it is not on the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities list.
Paste your lockfile or manifest into the free in-browser dependency scan to see whether the Adobe Commerce or Magento packages is in your tree, including as a transitive dependency. Reachability analysis can then show whether your code calls the affected path, which helps you order the work.
Quick check
Is the Magento open source edition affected?
