CVE-2026-3053 is a high severity flaw (CVSS 7.3) in DataLinkDC Dinky. The interceptor setup in the admin application leaves the OpenAPI endpoint without authentication. It can be reached remotely with no login, and the exploit is public. The record names no fixed version in its text.

What's affected

The NVD record lists Dinky up to and including version 1.2.5. The NVD record does not name a fixed version, so assume every copy you run is exposed until the maintainer says otherwise. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond, according to the record. The public disclosure and the record are the only sources for this issue.

How to check if you're exposed

Find out whether DataLinkDC Dinky runs anywhere in your environment, including test servers and old demos. Check your Dinky version in the admin interface or the jar name, and compare it with 1.2.5.

Then check who can reach it. A copy that is open to the internet is the case that matters most, so review the web server, reverse proxy and firewall rules for that host.

What to do now

  1. Remove DataLinkDC Dinky from any internet-facing host, or restrict it to a trusted network or VPN.
  2. Check the project page and the maintainer's contact channels for a fix, and apply it if one has appeared since this was written.
  3. Put Dinky behind a VPN, an allowlist or an authenticating proxy, since it is a platform that runs data jobs.
  4. Check the project's releases for a version after 1.2.5 and read its notes for authentication changes. The public issue shows the reporter closed it on 17 March 2026, which is not evidence of a fix.
  5. Review API access logs and job history for activity you do not recognise, and rotate any credentials the platform stores.
  6. Keep a list of small third party applications like this one, so a new advisory can be matched against it quickly. The Gold page for this CVE has the latest data: https://gold.safeguard.sh/vulnerability/CVE-2026-3053

Why it matters

The record files this under CWE-287 and CWE-306. The record files this under CWE-287 and CWE-306, improper authentication and missing authentication for a critical function. The code that registers interceptors for the OpenAPI path does not apply the login check, so the endpoint answers anyone. Data platforms usually hold credentials for many other systems, which raises the stakes of an open API. The maintainer must apply authentication to the whole route, and a deny by default rule is the safer pattern.

The NVD description says the exploit is public, so anyone can read how the weakness works. A public write-up and no vendor fix is a poor mix for a system that holds real data, which is why exposure control is the main defence here. The record does not mark this CVE as exploited in the wild, and it is not in the CISA KEV catalog.

Quick check

Is there a newer release?

Check the project's releases, because the record does not name a fixed version.

What can an open API do here?

The record does not say. Dinky runs data jobs, so treat any unauthenticated API as serious.
