CVE-2026-26950 is an insufficient verification of data authenticity flaw in Dell SmartFabric Manager versions before 2.2.1. The record scores it 8.1 (High). A low privileged attacker with remote access could elevate privileges. Dell's advisory DSA-2026-317 says to upgrade to version 2.2.1 or later.

What's affected

Dell's advisory DSA-2026-317 lists SmartFabric Manager versions prior to 2.2.1 as affected, with the fix in version 2.2.1 or later. The advisory also covers several third-party component issues in the same product. Dell notes the product table may not be exhaustive, and says CVE-2026-26950 was added in revision 2.0 dated 8 September 2026.

Source conflict to note: the record scores this 8.1 (High). Dell's advisory gives the same CVSS 3.1 base score, 8.1, but labels the overall impact Critical in its summary table. By standard CVSS 3.1 ranges, 8.1 falls in the High band. Both are reported here.

Weakness class: CWE-345, insufficient verification of data authenticity.

How to check if you're exposed

Open the SmartFabric Manager web interface and look at the About or version information, or check the version in your deployment records. Anything below 2.2.1 is affected.

Because the attack needs a low privileged remote account, also list who has accounts on SmartFabric Manager and from which networks it can be reached. Management planes for network fabrics should sit on a dedicated management network, and checking that is useful whether or not you are affected.

What to do now

  1. Upgrade Dell SmartFabric Manager to 2.2.1 or later using the download link in Dell's advisory.
  2. Review the other third-party component fixes in DSA-2026-317, since the same upgrade covers them.
  3. Restrict access to the management interface to an admin network, and remove unused accounts.
  4. Review recent configuration changes on the fabric for anything you did not make.
  5. Weigh Dell's temporal and environmental guidance, as the advisory suggests, when ranking this against other work.

Why it matters

Insufficient verification of data authenticity means the software accepts data without confirming that it came from a trusted source or has not been altered. In a management product, that can allow a user with limited rights to submit something that the system treats as authoritative, which turns a low privilege into a high one.

The impact is high on confidentiality and integrity in the record, with no availability impact. SmartFabric Manager controls network fabric, so elevated privileges there can mean changes to switching and connectivity. The KEV flag is false and Dell does not report exploitation.

Try it yourself

Watching for new advisories on the products you actually run is the habit that catches issues like this early. This demo shows the idea.

Quick check

Is there a workaround?

The advisory lists the upgrade as the remedy. Network restrictions reduce exposure but do not fix it.

Is it Critical or High?

Both words appear. The CVSS 3.1 score is 8.1, which is in the High band, while Dell's summary table says Critical.
