Claude Pro: what you pay for, using only public pricing

What Anthropic lists publicly for Claude Pro as of 18 October 2026: price, included features and limits. We make no claims about provider costs.

Anthropic's public pricing page, which we fetched on 18 October 2026, lists Claude Pro at $17 per month on an annual subscription ($200 billed up front) or $20 if billed monthly, with usage limits that apply. This article covers only what that page publishes. It makes no claim about what the provider spends to serve you.

What does the page say you get with Pro?

The Pro card says "Everything in Free, plus" and then lists: more usage, the ability to hand off and schedule tasks, Claude Dashboards (beta), Claude Code, Claude Science, Projects, more Claude models, and Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365. The comparison table shows Claude Code, Claude in Chrome and Claude for Microsoft 365 as included on Pro and not on Free, and shows Opus available on Pro. Projects are limited to five on Free and listed as included on Pro.

The page also notes that prices exclude applicable tax and that price and plans are subject to change at Anthropic's discretion. Treat any number here as a snapshot dated 18 October 2026.

What is metered?

Pro is a subscription with a usage limit, not a pay per token plan. The page says "usage limits apply" and does not publish a token count for Pro. It shows Max at 5x or 20x more usage than Pro, starting from $100 per month. If a limit matters to you, read the current page and the help center before you buy.

How does it compare with other plans on the same page?

The same page lists Team standard seats at $20 per seat per month billed annually ($25 monthly), premium seats at $100 annually ($125 monthly), and Enterprise at $20 per seat per month billed annually with a 20 seat minimum plus usage at API rates. The Team and Enterprise rows add administration features that Pro does not list, such as single sign-on, central billing and audit logs.

What about what the provider pays?

The pricing page does not publish the provider's costs, and we have no verified source for them. Any figure you see online about what a subscriber costs a provider is an estimate unless the provider says otherwise. We leave it out. What you can verify is the price, the list of features, and the limits as written.

What does this mean for a security team?

If people on your team use a personal Pro plan for work, note that the page lists Team and Enterprise features such as single sign-on, audit logs and central administration as not included on Pro. That is a governance question to settle with your policy, not a pricing one. If you connect an AI assistant to your security tools, you can connect Safeguard to Claude through MCP at mcp.safeguard.sh, and tool calls on Safeguard's side are unlimited on every plan. The assistant's own plan limits are separate and set by its provider.

What to do

  1. Open the provider's pricing page on the day you decide and screenshot the plan you are choosing.
  2. Write down the limit language exactly as shown, and where it points to details.
  3. Decide whether work data may be used on a personal plan, and record the rule.
  4. If several people need it, compare Team and Enterprise features against your security requirements before paying for individual plans.
  5. Review the plan every few months, since the page says plans can change.
